World Day for Decent Work: Kwara supports decent work environment and job security

The Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS) Ilorin has reiterated its readiness to partner with stakeholders in ensuring a decent work environment and job security for Nigerian workers

The Director-General of the institute, Comrade Issa Aremu gave the assurance during the 2021 World Day for Decent Work celebration held at the main auditorium of the institute on Thursday.

While commending Nigerian workers, Comrade Issa Aremu, said the institute would continue to promote Knowledge on collective bargaining and conflict resolution to avoid unnecessary industrial disputes

Aremu lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for giving attention to workers’ welfare and advised all heads of agencies to emulate and support the president to enhance productivity.

Earlier, the Country Director, International Labour Organisation, (ILO), Vanessa Phala identified social dialogue as best option needed to strengthen workers and employers’ relations.

Phala said ILO would continue to provide the required support for all parties to enhance better working environment for workers in Nigeria.

World Day for Decent Work is a day set aside by the International Labour Organization since 2008 to create awareness on the need for productive, job security and adequate remuneration for workers across the globe.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Just Jobs: Building a Recovery for Everyone” the event was attended by representatives of various labour unions both within and outside the state.
