In a proactive move aimed at curbing crime in Delta State, the Police Command has made significant arrests, recovering weapons and illicit drugs during routine stop and search operations. The success of these operations underscores the commitment of law enforcement to maintain peace and security in the region. This was contained in a press statement from the spokesman for the state command, DSP Bright Edafe.

On February 5, 2024, officers from the Dragon Patrol intercepted a commercial vehicle along the Kwale-Ogwashi-Uku Expressway. During a random search, they uncovered a locally made pistol and two live cartridges concealed inside a bag of smoked fish. The suspect, identified as Fedelis Akpos, attempted to deceive authorities, but the vigilant officers were able to uncover the hidden weapons. Akpos, aged 23, is currently in custody as investigations continue.

In a separate incident on February 7, 2024, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) halted a Toyota Hiace bus at Head-Bridge Asaba for a routine check. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered three cartons of CSC Codeine, 400 sachets of Tramadol, and other suspected illicit substances. Lucky Emmanuel, Enunwuune Snu, and Jacob Efedeye were apprehended in connection with the illegal drugs and are now under investigation.

Commissioner of Police Delta State, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the diligence and professionalism of the officers involved in these operations. He emphasized the commitment of the command to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and visitors in Delta State. CP Olufemi reiterated the zero-tolerance stance on criminal activities and warned that perpetrators would face the full force of the law.

In a statement, CP Olufemi urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities promptly.
