Delta State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Al, has ordered the immediate detention of Inspector Ebri Ubi for reportedly shooting and killing Mr. Onyeka Ibe during a Stop and Search duty along Ugbolu-Illah Road, Oshimili North LGA, Delta State.
According to reports, the incident occurred on April 5th, 2023, at approximately 9:30 am. Upon hearing the news, the Commissioner of Police ordered the arrest and detention of the errant police officer and directed his transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Asaba for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, stating that the Force is a disciplined organization and will not condone such cruel actions by any member of the Force. He assured the public that the offending officer will be subjected to both internal disciplinary measures and criminal prosecution.
He also appealed to members of the public to remain calm and law-abiding, stating that justice will not just be done but will be seen to have been done. In light of this tragedy, the Commissioner of Police urged the public to contact the dedicated phone lines if they have any complaints or find themselves in a distressing situation.
