In preparation for the upcoming 2024 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon scheduled for Saturday, February 10, 2024, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Lagos Sector Command is gearing up with a strategic deployment of personnel and patrol vehicles. The event, slated to commence at 5:30 a.m., will necessitate temporary closures of specific routes within the state to facilitate the smooth movement of participants.
Two main routes have been designated for the marathon. Route A will cover a significant distance, starting from the stadium and winding through various landmarks such as Barrack Road, Palm Grove, the Gbagada Expressway, the 3rd Mainland Bridge, Osborne Road Falomo, and more, culminating at the Eko Atlantic City Finish Point. On the other hand, Route B, spanning 10 kilometers, will commence at Office 360 Wusu Road and follow a path through Admiralty Road, Lekki Phase 1 gate, Lekki tollgate, and finally reach the same finish point at Eko Atlantic City.
Alternative routes have been designated for vehicular movement to ensure minimal disruption to regular traffic flow. These include paths over Apongbon Bridge, Eko Bridge, Costain Roundabout, and others, providing options for commuters during the marathon. Furthermore, the outward journey from Ikorodu Road to Funsho Williams Avenue towards Lagos Island will remain accessible throughout the event.
Corps Commander Babatunde Farinloye, leading the FRSC Lagos Sector Command, emphasizes the importance of motorists planning their routes and adhering strictly to instructions provided by traffic management officers from the FRSC and other relevant agencies.
Signed electronically by Superintendent Route Commander Olabisi Sonusi, FRSC Public Education Officer, this announcement underscores the commitment of FRSC Lagos Sector Command to ensuring safety and efficiency during the 2024 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.
