966 Graduate from Caleb University at 12th Convocation, Honoring Prestigious Individuals with Honorary Doctorates

Caleb University in Imota Lagos, Africa’s leading private university in research and entrepreneurship development, held its 12th convocation ceremony from January 19th to 21st, 2023. The three-day event, which was restructured to be held during the founder’s week, featured the conferment of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, diplomas, and honorary degrees.

According to the university’s Information, Media and Publication Specialist, Mr Olawale Adekoya, the convocation ceremony was a major success. The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Nosa-Owens Ibie, urged current undergraduate students to make the most of their time in school and not to worry as the school has equipped them with everything they need to face the reality of life head-on. The Pro-Chancellor, Professor Sunday Ajayi, praised the graduates for raising the bar and encouraged them to abide by the core values of Caleb University, which include godliness, innovation, service, integrity, teamwork, excellence, and creativity.

During the ceremony, the Chancellor, represented by the Vice Chancellor, conferred honorary doctorate degrees on Dr John Momoh, the founder and chairman of Channels Television, and Mr Dele Alake, the chairman of TVC Communications. The convocation lecture, delivered by Mr Babatunde Fajemirokun, the Managing Director and CEO of AIICO Insurance Plc, urged the youth to have an entrepreneurial mindset and acquire skills in order to stay ahead of the competition in today’s fast-paced world.

Out of the 747 students who graduated with undergraduate degrees, 32 received first-class honours, 390 received second-class (upper) honours, 313 received second-class (lower) honours, and 13 received third-class honours. Among the 219 postgraduate degree students presented, 32 made distinctions, and 187 passed. In a closely contested race, Miss Eunice Moyinoluwa Osho was named the Most Outstanding Undergraduate Student, while Mr Olaniran Timothy Oyelowo was named the Most Outstanding Postgraduate Student.
