The Committees on Petroleum and Gas in the Nigerian Senate have been asked to ensure the prompt implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act, with a six-month timeline handed to them to ensure revenue from petroleum becomes more visible.
Senate President Ahmad Lawan made this call Wednesday at an event to mark his 63rd birthday.
The Senate President said the National Assembly put in so much effort to ensure passage of the piece of legislation and as such cannot afford to have it become underutilized.
Lawan said the activities of the ninth National Assembly have brought stability to the economy and the polity.
