Our officer didn’t assault any passenger at Lagos airport – NDLEA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has stated that preliminary findings indicate that none of its officers assaulted an Air Peace airline passenger, Ms. Abiri Oluwabusayo Khloe, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja Lagos, in the early hours of today, Sunday 5th December.

The passenger claimed on social media that a female NDLEA officer harassed and abused her. While the investigation into the accusation is still underway, the following facts have been established thus far: A female passenger, Ms. Abiri Oluwabusayo, was requested to surrender her bags for a search at around 12:20 a.m. on Sunday, December 5th, during an outbound clearing of passengers flying to South Africa by Air Peace.

Ms. Abiri grew irritated during the examination of her luggage, which contained around eight handbags, as revealed on CCTV evidence, and yelled a series of unprintable slurs at the female officer checking her luggage.

This attitude is obviously a red sign that would arouse suspicion, and it may also be seen as an attempt to distract the officer.

Ms. Abiri went on to point fingers in the officer’s face while simultaneously pulling out a phone to video the officer as she was doing her job. The police took her phone to remove the distraction, but it didn’t stop the passenger from bringing out another phone to capture their incident.

The NDLEA assures the aggrieved passenger and the public that it is a law enforcement body that upholds discipline among its officers and men and that it will take additional efforts to examine any additional evidence made available throughout the current process.
