NUJ Elections: Benue Journalists Forum Congratulates Isiguzo, Atsaka, Others

The Benue Journalists Forum, Nigeria (BJFN) has congratulated Chief Chris Isiguzo on his re-election as the President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

The media advocacy group described Chief Isiguzo’s overwhelming electoral victory at the 7th Triennial Delegates Conference in Umuahia, Abia state as “unprecedented” in the history of the Union.

The National President of BJFN, Chief Joseph Saater Undu, in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday, also congratulated the former NUJ Chairman, Benue State Council, Christopher Atsaka a.k.a Kris over his emergence as the Vice President of Zone D.

BJFN also thanked other elected officials for their well-deserved victories and all the delegates and other stakeholders for their resilience and commitment in ensuring a hitch-free election despite initial legal tussles that threatened the smooth conduct of the exercise.

This is as it urged the newly elected officials to ensure professionalism and high ethical standards in the practice of journalism in Nigeria while prioritizing the welfare of members.

The BJFN is a voluntary Media Advocacy Organization with membership drawn from professional journalists of Benue State extraction across Nigeria and beyond, who have come together to add value to the state in the area of media reportage with a view to repositioning and promoting social inclusiveness, unity and peace across the State and its environs, among other things.

The BJFN has an Advisory Board comprising eminent personalities and since its inception in 2015, in Lagos, BJFN has been in the vanguard of ensuring unity and peaceful coexistence among indigenes and residents of Benue state.
