NSCDC Launches Covert Operation To Arrest Insecurity In Osun State

The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, Emmanuel Ocheja, has ordered a full scale covert operation to arrest any act of criminality by hoodlums, thugs, and miscreants planning to foment trouble, create panic, and thwart the relative peace enjoyed by the good people of Osun state.

This directive is against the backdrop of insinuations and allegations in some quarters that some nefarious elements have stockpiled the uniforms of NSCDC, and the Nigeria Correctional Service with the intent of distributing them to non-state actors for use during the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Osun State scheduled for Saturday, February 19, 2022.

Commandant Ocheja assured the government and the good people of Osun state that machineries have been set in motion to clamp down on any impostor or group of impostors that would be daring enough to wear the uniform or any accoutrements of the NSCDC to cause mayhem, violence, or destruction in the state.

“We shall provide adequate security and maintain peace in the state at all time; the Corps is a neutral and non partisan organization whose good name and image was built by dint of hardwork, patriotism and huge sacrifice to the nation, we will therefore not allow anyone under any guise to destroy the integrity or progress of the Corps but we shall continue to work assiduously to defend our mandate as enshrined in the Act” Ocheja said

The command’s spokemans, ASCII Atanda Olabisi, states that “He hinted that the Intelligence and Investigation department have been mobilized to embark on covert operation, investigation, surveillance and most importantly, to fish out and prosecute hoodlums who are hellbent on causing michieves in order to serve as deterrent to other criminally minded individuals in the state.”

Commandant Ocheja assures all law-abiding residents of Osun State to go about their lawful businesses, as NSCDC is already beaming its searchlight in every direction to unravel the alleged fake personnel and other criminals planning to destroy the state. He therefore enjoined members of the public to be alert and security conscious and to report any suspicious movement of individuals or groups in any suspicious location to any civil defence office nearest to them.

“We at NSCDC shall continue to uphold the rule of law in all circumstances. We shall not deviate from the tenets of impartiality and professionalism. What we will not condone is the wanton breakdown of law and order under any guise.

Ocheja concluded by warning parents and guardians to discourage their wards from being used by die-hard politicians and political thugs as the full weight of the law would be brought down on anyone found contravening the law of the land.
