No kidnapping of 48 worshippers or State Mosque attack

The spokesman for the Sokoto Police Command, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, has discredited media reports claiming that the Sokoto State mosque was attacked. The claim that 48 worshippers were also kidnapped was nothing but a lie.

He said, in a report to ngrDesk, that the attention of Sokoto State Police Command has been drawn to the above purported news in circulation on Social Media which emanates from weetalknaija.com that, arm bandits break into Sokoto State mosque and kidnap 48 worshippers.

He states that In view of the above, the command is using this medium to debunk such fabricated stories capable of misleading the general public and creating chaos in the minds of law-abiding citizens of Sokoto State.

In his media statement, he advised members of the public to beware of defective news.

“It is pertinent to state that members of the public should be wary against deception and lies concocted by unverified news websites and further replicated in many online publications.” 

ASP Sanusi Abubakar disclosed that Sokoto State Police Command is very much aware of the prevalent security situation in the state, working tirelessly for a lasting solution in conjunction with other sister agencies. 

While reiterating our commitment to sustaining peace in the state,  He calls on members of the public to cooperate with security agencies in the fight against banditry and other crimes.
