Residents of Sakponba road, Benin CITY, Edo state capital were thrown into mourning as an early morning motor accident claimed the lives of about 9 persons.
It was gathered from our Correspondent in Edo who witnessed the accident, that it occurred at Ogbelaka junction, when a tipper loaded with sand, collided with two buses conveying passengers.
Our Correspondent further stated that the fatality could have been more if the bureau de change operators by Erie junction did not run for safety when vehicles trying to avoid the scene tried to crush them.

According to the account of our Correspondent, the tipper involved in the accident was trying to overtake another tipper, but lost control and collided with the two minibusses, killing many of the commuters on the spot.
While witnesses claimed to have counted at least nine corpses at the scene, the Edo state police command public relations officer, Bello Kotongs, when contacted, said only four people died in the accident.
