Man United XI

How Man United XI could look with Malacia, Eriksen & Martinez

With the season fast approaching, it’s time to take a peek at how the Man United XI could look with their new signings.

We’re now under two weeks away from the serious action starting – and we have to say, the excitement is building.

The early signs under Erik ten Hag have been mightily positive. Sure, it’s only pre-season but the squad seems willing to learn from, and work for, their new boss.

Three signings have been made. We’ve only seen Tyrell Malacia on tour, though. The other two, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez, are expected in training this week.

With that in mind, we’ve decided to draw up what we think our starting line-up could look like with the new signings involved. Obviously, take this with a pinch of salt as it’s just a bit of fun.

Check out how we think the Man United XI could look with the new signings here:

The first thing to note is the formation. Ten Hag has preferred to utilise a 4-2-3-1 formation, with the front three and midfield three being completely interchangeable.

David de Gea will keep his place in between the sticks with Dean Henderson off on loan at Nottingham Forest. This position was always going to be pretty easy to decipher.

The back four is intriguing. Diogo Dalot has been preferred in the right-back position, while Malacia has absolutely made a bright enough start to be given the nod over on the left. Harry Maguire remains the club captain and he will play whether we like it or not. New centre-back Martinez has been signed to become a starter. He will play.

Fred has been super impressive on tour as he continues to grow as a footballer. It’ll be nice to see him develop under Ten Hag. Eriksen is another new addition and he will be involved. His ability to play further forward and a little deeper is going to be key over the course of the season.

Attacking-wise, United have a settled front four already. Anthony Martial has been sharp so he deserves a genuine opportunity to lead the line. To his right and left respectively, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford will feature. Then, in the #10 role is Bruno Fernandes. He remains the heartbeat of this team.
