Federal Ministry of Environment restates commitment towards environmental challenges control

The Federal Ministry of Environment Has Reiterated Commitment Towards Managing Emerging Environmental Challenges To Enhance A thriving and Sustainable Economy.

Minister of State for Environment Sharon Ikeazor disclosed this in Abuja, Friday at the 15th meeting of the National Council on Environment.

The Minister said the theme “Appraisal of the Emerging Challenges and the Opportunities in the Environment Sector: A Call for Actions towards the Environment of our Dream” was strategically chosen to reflect the current realities and consistently tackle environmental challenges.

Ikeazor added, the Ministry has developed strategies along the nine priority areas outlined by the current administration to achieve agriculture and food security.

Also speaking, the Minister of the FCT, Mohammad Bello stressed the need to take stock of current environmental issues and evaluate the challenges and opportunities embedded in them.

He encouraged the national council on Environment to provide policy guidance that will help cushion the negative impact of climate change and adverse environmental conditions.

The General Managing Director, NNPC who was represented by Affiong Akpasubi said the ecosystem must be protected by maintaining high air quality and availability of viable water resources.
