CP Assures NMA Diligent Investigation into Deceased Member’s Case

In response to the murder of Dr. Uyi Iluobe, who was found dead on December 29, 2022, at his hospital, Olivet Clinic in Oghareki, Oghara, Ethiope West LGA, Delta State, the state’s commissioner of police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, met with members of the Nigerian Medical Association Delta State Chapter in his office yesterday, January 3, 2023.

According to a preliminary inquiry, a female patient with an unknown name and address arrived at the hospital that day at around 1940 hours claiming to be experiencing abdominal pain. While the doctor was treating her, she called the suspects, pretending that she was being treated by the doctor and inviting them to come pay her bill.

The doctor was shot twice in the chest and died shortly after the thugs invaded the hospital in a Toyota car, and entered the doctor’s office. The alleged female patient and the criminals ran off.

While offering his condolences to the members of the Nigerian Medical Association and the family of the deceased doctor, DSP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police PRO, states in a statement that the Commissioner of Police reassured them that the case would be thoroughly investigated to ensure that the deserved justice would be served.

Finally, it is important to make it clear that the rumour that the doctor’s murder was committed by the family of a purportedly dead patient is untrue and should be ignored because there is no record of any patient who passed away before the terrible incident.

The Command thus wishes to take this occasion to officially request everyone’s help in our mission to reveal the offenders’ true identities.
