Chelsea target announces that he’s leaving Serie A

If you look at the central defenders Chelsea have been linked to this summer, there’s no question that Jules Kounde is their top target, and the player most likely to join.

But behind him there are a whole cluster of European targets who we’re hearing a regular trickle of information about. None of them has really established themselves as a favourite to follow Kounde, but there are a few names in the hat. One of those is Gleison Bremer of Torino.

He’s now pretty much announced that he’s leaving Serie A in a post picked up by the Daily Mail.

“I told the coach and the management [last summer]: “I want to change now.” So they told me: “Stay this year, help us. Next year, you can take the next step.

“The fans already know that I have this desire to play in the Champions League, to go there to earn a call-up to the Brazilian national team,” the defender said.

We can offer him Champions League football, and we can offer him a great pathway to Tite’s attention.

Gianluca Di Marzio reported last week that we had made an “important proposal” for the defender, and now he’s pushing for an exit it looks certain that he’s moving up that list of targets.
