Chelsea: £27m superstar would be ‘big signing for fans’ at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly will ‘raise the profile’ of the club and seal ‘a big signing for Blues fans’ if he succeeds in tempting Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to Stamford Bridge, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

A consortium led by Boehly gained the keys to the west London giants when a £4.25billion takeover was completed in May and he has wasted no time in looking to attract a marquee signing.

What’s the latest news involving Ronaldo?

After it had already been revealed that Boehly had held conversations with Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes, with Chelsea hoping to discover whether a move to Stamford Bridge could be a possibility, a huge twist came last weekend.

It is understood that Chelsea are now considering a move for the Portuguese despite his current employers’ insistence that Ronaldo is not for sale.

That is because it emerged that Ronaldo has told Manchester United that he wants to be allowed to leave Old Trafford if a satisfactory offer is tabled before the September 1 transfer deadline.

He is seeking a move away from Manchester United due to wanting to compete in the Champions League, which the Red Devils will not be involved in after finishing sixth in the Premier League last season.

Ronaldo would reportedly be open to sealing a switch to Chelsea, although the Blues have yet to make a final decision on whether to head to Manchester United with a formal offer.
