Lagos, Nigeria – The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Lagos sector command has confirmed that one person has died and multiple others have been injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Kara Bridge, Lagos-Ibadan expressway, which occurred early on the morning of February 9th, 2023.
The crash, which involved seven vehicles, including a gold Toyota Sienna bus, a custom Toyota Camry car, a white Toyota Hiace bus, a black Lexus SUV, a white Lexus SUV, a black Toyota Land Cruiser, and a white Mack truck, was reportedly caused by a brake failure by the white Mack truck.
One male adult was confirmed dead and taken by the Kara Hausa community for burial according to Islamic rites. The injured were taken to the Accident and Emergency unit in Ojota.
FRSC personnel, in conjunction with the Nigeria Police and TRACE operatives, cleared the obstructions off the road and are still on the scene managing the backlog of traffic.

Sector Commander Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery. He also stated that the Corps will continue to ensure that minimum safety standards are maintained by articulated vehicles and that the cause of the crash will be thoroughly investigated.
