Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has expressed grief over the death of seven NSCDC personnel who were ambushed and killed in Kaduna while on official duty. The attack occurred on Monday, January 9, 2023, along with a separate incident where four other personnel died in a road crash in Abuja.

During a special intercessory prayer organized at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja, Dr Audi, represented by the DCG Crisis and Disaster Management, Dr Nnamdi Nwinyi, called on all personnel to remain resolute, committed and resilient in their pursuit of peace, safety and security. The Commandant General condemned the killings and offered condolences to the families of the fallen personnel.

Prayers were also offered for the cessation of such attacks and for the success of the 2023 General elections in Nigeria. Dr Audi also called on all NSCDC personnel to be vigilant and security-conscious while performing their duties.

In addition, the Commandant General directed the Assistant Commandant General (ACG) of Zone B, Kaduna, Mohammed Haruna, to lead a delegation of senior officers to visit the families of the deceased in Kaduna and offer support and condolences.

The National President of the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN), Chris Adigwu, also joined in the prayer session and expressed sympathy to the NSCDC management, officers, and men. He called for God’s protection against future incidents and encouraged the NSCDC personnel to remain courageous in the pursuit of their mandates.
