Endocrinologists reveal the detrimental impact of sugar on the body’s immune response
In a recent study conducted by endocrinologists, it has been discovered that the consumption of sugar can result in a staggering 17-fold decrease in the body’s immune response within a period of six to seven hours. The chemical composition and properties of sugar bear a striking resemblance to those of vitamin C, which is widely known for its immune-stimulating effects.
The similarity in chemical composition between these two substances can lead to confusion within the body when excessive amounts of sugar are consumed. The immune system’s cells, known as phagocytes, typically feed on vitamin C. However, due to the structural similarity, they can mistakenly absorb sugar, mistaking it for ascorbic acid.
Upon entering the cell, the glucose and fructose compounds present in sugar swiftly initiate its destruction from within. As a result, the body’s immunity is significantly compromised. This finding highlights the potential harm associated with relying on sweet mixtures and syrups as remedies for various ailments.
