Police Apprehend Suspected Armed Robbers and Seize Homemade Firearms

In a recent operation conducted by the Agbor Division of the Delta State Police Command, two suspected armed robbers were arrested, and two locally made cut-to-size guns were recovered. The incident took place on the 5th of June, 2023, at approximately 5:40 p.m. when police operatives were on an anti-crime patrol along Baleke Street in Iregua Agbor.

During the patrol, the police team noticed a motorcycle carrying three passengers, one of whom was holding a bag. As soon as they spotted the police, two of the passengers, identified as Collins Anthony, aged 34, and Stephen Goddey, aged 30, both residents of Agbor Community, immediately fled the scene on foot. The police pursued them and successfully apprehended the suspects. A search of the suspects led to the discovery of one locally fabricated cut-to-size pistol and a live cartridge. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the arrested individuals are associated with a criminal syndicate that has been causing terror in Agbor Community and its surroundings. Further investigations are currently underway.

In a separate incident on the same day, policemen from the Mosogar Division intercepted three individuals identified as Moses Musa, Kelin, and Isah on the Mosogar/Oghara expressway during a routine patrol. Upon noticing the patrol team, the suspects fled into a nearby bush. Although two of the suspects managed to escape, Moses Musa, aged 27, was apprehended. The police found a locally made pistol and a live cartridge in his possession. During questioning, the arrested suspect confessed that he hails from Kogi State and revealed that their criminal activities primarily involved robbing individuals at point-of-sale terminals (POS). Furthermore, Moses Musa has been positively identified by a victim whose motorcycle was recently snatched at gunpoint along the Oghara/Mosogar Bridge. The suspect remains in custody as the investigation continues.
