Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has revealed his plan to present the 2025 state budget to the Rivers State House of Assembly, under the leadership of Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo. The announcement was made during the inauguration of two new community town halls and the launch of a scholarship and empowerment initiative in the Akiama and Aganya communities in Bonny Local Government Area.
Governor Fubara expressed appreciation for Speaker Oko-Jumbo’s role as an advocate for the Ibani Kingdom and acknowledged his commitment to effective governance and collaboration. Fubara emphasized that, while maintaining the independence of the legislative and executive branches, they will continue to work together to support prosperity for Rivers State residents.
He highlighted Speaker Oko-Jumbo’s cooperation with the state government, noting his efforts in facilitating various initiatives, including appointing caretaker committee chairpersons and advancing legislative processes critical for the 2025 budget. “The Speaker’s commitment is evident in his collaboration and support,” Fubara remarked. He also underscored the importance of constituency projects, commending local representatives who directly benefit their communities.
Governor Fubara criticized former Assembly members who, despite past office tenure, have not launched or supported local projects, remarking, “These are Abuja-based politicians,” contrasting them with current Assembly members actively engaged in their communities.
