Delta State Police Command Rescues Two Kidnapped Victims and Makes Significant Recoveries
The Delta State Police Command has announced the successful rescue of two individuals who were kidnapped by a gang of four suspected kidnappers in the early hours of April 24, 2023. The victims, identified as Ovigwe Dagagba, 31, and Obinna Nwanko, 29, were intercepted and kidnapped while travelling in a Toyota Corolla belonging to one of them. The kidnappers were said to be operating on a tricycle and heading towards Udu LGA when they were intercepted.
The Divisional Police Officer of Owvian Aladja, CSP Aliyu Shaba, received a distress call and immediately led a team of police operatives to track and intercept the kidnappers. The police operatives engaged the kidnappers in a gunfight, forcing them to abandon the car, the kidnapped victims, and flee into the bush with various degrees of bullet injuries.
The victims were rescued unhurt and have since been reunited with their families. In addition to the rescue, a locally made single-barrel gun, thirty-eight live cartridges, two expended cartridges, four power banks, two Monie point POS machines, and twenty-six assorted Android phones were recovered from the abandoned car. The tricycle used by the kidnappers was also recovered.

The Delta State Deputy Commissioner of Police, Johnson Adenola, has directed officers and men of the command to sustain the tempo in the fight against crime and criminality. Members of the public have also been urged to report any suspicious persons or movements around them.

DSP Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Command in Asaba, made this announcement in a press release. The manhunt for the fleeing suspects is currently ongoing.
