Villarreal consider late move for Real Madrid player

There is very little time left in the summer transfer window but the futures of a few Real Madrid players are still up in the air. The club have mostly focused on departures, letting go of stars like Casemiro, Gareth Bale, Marcelo, Isco and several more. And the name of Alvaro Odriozola could be added to that list soon.

Odriozola arrived at Real Madrid in the summer of 2018 but has never managed to establish himself at Santiago Bernabeu. He has spent loan spells away at Bayern Munich and Fiorentina as well.

But with no clear path into the Real Madrid first-team, with Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez appearing to be ahead of him in the pecking order, Odriozola leaving would not come as a major surprise. He has recently been linked with a return to Real Sociedad but now, it appears that another La Liga side have joined the race for his signature.

As reported by Marca, Villarreal are considering a move for Odriozola. He is believed to be on top of their list of candidates, as Pervis Estupinan recently left for the Premier League while Juan Foyth picked up an injury.

Villarreal want to sign Real Madrid player after recent exit and injury

Odriozola had established himself as one of the brightest young prospects in La Liga during his time at Real Sociedad but he has failed to fulfil his potential since joining Real Madrid.

His loan spell at Fiorentina was decent, while there is nothing to write home about from his temporary stint with Bayern Munich.

A return to Real Sociedad would make a lot of sense for Odriozola, who came up through the club’s youth ranks. On the other hand, a move to Villarreal could interest the Spaniard as well, as the Yellow Submarine seem to be destined for big things under the management of Unai Emery.

Liverpool eyeing another Real Madrid transfer target

Midfield is the strongest area of the pitch for Real Madrid right now. They have two absolute legends of the game in Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

On top of that, they have the youth of Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga, both of whom are showing signs that they are future superstars. Fede Valverde is an excellent player as well and Dani Ceballos is a great option to have in the squad.

But that has not stopped Real Madrid from being linked with more midfielders, especially with Casemiro leaving for Manchester United in the summer.

One player that they have been linked with recently is Enzo Fernandez of Benfica, who arrived at the Portuguese club just this summer from River Plate but has already caught the eye with his performances.

Real Madrid do not seem to be the only club keeping tabs on his situation though. As reported by Sky Sports, Liverpool have kept a watching brief on Fernandez.

Liverpool are interested in another Real Madrid midfield target

Real Madrid and Liverpool appear to have had quite a few similar transfer targets in recent times, as both sides compete for the biggest honours in their respect domestic competitions and in Europe.

Tchouameni is someone that Liverpool were believed to hold an interest in before Real Madrid ended up signing him.

But of course, the big one is Jude Bellingham. The 19-year-old is one of the best players in the Bundesliga and the heart and soul of the current Borussia Dortmund team. He is a prodigy to put it mildly and it is expected to take a transfer fee of around €100 million to sign him.

Real Madrid are rumoured to have him as a priority target for them next summer but Liverpool are also expected to make a serious attempt to sign the Englishman.
