UNILORIN inducts 33 veterinary doctors

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Ilorin, Kwara state has inducted a total number of 33 Veterinary doctors into veterinary medicine practice.

Speaking during the third induction/oath-taking ceremony of the young vets in Ilorin the state capital, the president, Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN), Aishatu Abubakar, said that the veterinary medicine practice provides immense employment opportunities that cut across different federal and state government agencies, organizations as well as private practice.

The Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN) president, Aishatu Abubakar said the council would protect the interest of the young graduates, adding that it is working on policies as well as collaborating with Government and non-Governmental agencies towards providing employment and other necessities for young Veterinary doctors both in the public and private sectors of the economy.

Also speaking, the vice-chancellor of the University, Professor Sulyman Age, represented by the Provost College of Health Sciences, Professor Olanrewaju Adedoyin, charged the young graduates to make the university proud by being exemplary in their conduct.

In his speech, the Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ilorin, Professor Moshood Raji, reminded the young Vets never to stop learning and never to forget that veterinary medicine is an art practised by doctors of veterinary medicine.

The Kwara state governor, represented by his deputy, Kayode Alabi, said that the state government is partnering with the French government on reviving the agricultural sector in the state charging the graduates to be hard-working, exhibit good character and maintain good relationships to attain greatness.

With this oath-taking and induction, the fresh 33 veterinary doctors are now fully qualified to be issued with practising licenses by the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN).
