Thomas Tuchel believes Chelsea against Manchester United is the type of game that made him admire the Premier League from afar and is excited by the opportunity to compete for the win in such a prestigious fixture now he is here.
He takes his Blues side north to face Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League tomorrow evening for the latest edition of a match which he considers to be one of the biggest around, with a rich history formed in previous title clashes.
This season’s meetings between the two may not have a trophy on the line, with both sides targeting a top-four finish after Liverpool and Manchester City built a substantial lead at the top of the table, and our opponents struggling for form in sixth place, but that hasn’t dampened Tuchel’s excitement at being involved in a fixture between Chelsea and Manchester United at Old Trafford.
‘We would love to be and Manchester United would love to be in a title decider but unfortunately there are two other teams in red and blue who have a word to say and over the last years made their point strongly,’ he said. ‘So we have to accept it and we have to do everything to try to close the gap and Man United do as well.’
