Suspected Armed Robber Apprehended by Police, Pistols Recovered

A suspected armed robber has been apprehended by the Delta State Police Command, along with two locally fabricated pistols. The arrest took place on April 9th, 2023 at approximately 10:00 am, along Jeremi/Iwhrekan road in Ughelli South LGA.

According to reports, the operatives of Dragon 18 and 29 were on a stop and search duty when they intercepted a tricycle with registration number GBB 022 UN, driven by a man identified as Isreal Sibito, 58 years old. The tricycle was carrying three females and one male passenger identified as Joseph Vincent, 24 years old.

During the search, Joseph Vincent allegedly jumped out of the tricycle and fled into a nearby bush in an attempt to escape. However, the police officers pursued him and apprehended him. Upon a search, two locally fabricated Berretta pistols were recovered from him.

The police command has stated that investigations are still ongoing. In the meantime, the public has been advised to cooperate with police operatives during stop and search activities as it is for the collective good and to ensure a safer Delta for all.

DSP Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, Asaba, released this information in a press statement. The command has reassured the public of its commitment to protecting lives and property in the state.
