Senate To Screen Justice Ariwoola As Substantive CJN Tomorrow

Olukayode Ariwoola, the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), will appear before the Senate on Wednesday for review and confirmation of his nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari.

This information was revealed by the Senate’s president, Ahmad Lawan, during the plenary’s opening remarks on Tuesday following an eight-week break.

Lawan stated that Ariwoola would come before the Senate’s Committee of the Whole to begin his screening process.

In his speech regarding the general election of 2023, Lawan pledged that the National Assembly will collaborate with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deliver extremely successful, transparent, and trustworthy elections.

The Senate President emphasized that the Senate will maintain its interactions with the defense and security agencies through its respective committees with regard to the nation’s security situation.

The Senate President reiterated that President Muhammadu Buhari is anticipated to introduce the proposed N19.76 trillion 2023 Appropriation Bill to the National Assembly in the first week of October.

The yearly Appropriations Bill is now processed between October and December, as the Ninth Senate established.
