NSCDC Reserve Force Deployed to Quell Violence During 2023 Governorship and State Assembly Election
The Commandant General (CG) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has ordered the deployment of the NSCDC reserve force to prevent the escalation of violence during the 2023 Governorship and State Assembly election.
Following the monitoring of the security situation during the election from Control Centres situated at the NSCDC Headquarters, Sauka and the Federal Ministry of Interior, Garki-Abuja, the CG directed his field officers to deploy the NSCDC reserve force to areas where pockets of violence had been witnessed.
The exercise was successful, with only a few cases of violence reported in some states such as Lagos State, Ogun State, Cross Rivers State, Kogi, and Taraba. The CG commended the security personnel for maintaining peace and orderliness during the voting process.
In his statement, Dr. Audi gave kudos to the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for putting in place a robust arrangement that made it convenient for all the agencies under its purview to monitor the security situation across the country from the Command and Control Room.
