A Coalition of Northern Groups fumes over the recent threats by Southern Governors

A Coalition of Northern Groups has expressed concern over the recent threats by Southern Governors and elite to zone the presidential seat to the South.

The spokesperson of the coalition, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, while addressing the journalists in Abuja on Monday, described the presidential zoning as unconstitutional and undemocratic process to intimidate the North out of the presidential race come 2023 general election.

Suleiman said it is Southern agenda to impose nonexistent zoning arrangements on the North, adding that presidential zoning has no root and pattern in the democratic history of Nigeria, as the PDP who initiated the idea of zoning had itself bungled it at all subsequent elections since 1999.

He further said that the coalition group is in complete solidarity with the stance of northern elders forum on the abolishment of zoning of elective positions.

He, therefore, called on Northern voters to mobilize against sole concentration on party candidates and vote for any credible, transparent, capable and competent leaders from any part of the country.
