NANS President Assures On Quick Resolution Of Lingering ASUU Strike

The President of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Umar Faruk has assured Nigeria Students that the prolonged industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) would be called-off in a short period of time.

The NANS president gave the assurance while addressing journalists on a courtesy visit to Federal College of Education, Zuba, on Tuesday.

Farouk stated that he has already opened talks with the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu on how to find a lasting solution to the lecturers demands, adding that he will also reach out to the leadership of ASUU on the way out of the stalemate.

He however, appealed to ASUU to go back into negotiation with the Federal Government with a view to ending the lingering strike so that the students can go back to school.

The Senate President of NANS, Adeshina Adeduwura on his part called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on the country’s educational sector as means to find an enduring solution to the perennial industrial actions in the tertiary institutions across the country.

Speaking early, the provost of Federal College of Education, Zuba, Sule Mudi expressed optimism on the newly elected student leaders, saying that their prompt intervention would yield positive impact on the ASUU strike.
