Kwara State University dismissed 87 students

Authorities of the Kwara State University, Malete have expelled no fewer than 87 students during the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 academic sessions for various offenses bordering on indiscipline, drug-related offenses, internet fraud, robbery, and examination malpractices.

The Vice-Chancellor of the Institution, Professor Muhammed Akanbi who disclosed this during the pre-convocation briefing at the campus, maintained that the institution took punitive measures to ensure that the few bad eggs among the students do not contaminate the decent ones.

While restating the University’s stand against indiscipline amongst both students and staff of the Kwara State University, Professor Muhammed Akanbi maintained that the expulsion of the 87 students followed investigations and the establishment of their guilt by the Students Disciplinary Committee.

Meanwhile, Professor Akanbi also said the Kwara State University is setting the pace in aircraft engineering in Nigeria as two students Abdulzahir Usman and Israel Adeniyan designed and constructed a light aircraft that is set to attain an altitude of thirteen thousand feet at 220 kilometers per hour.

Speaking on the challenges facing the institution, Akanbi called on the state government to intervene over encroachment of the university’s landmass ceded to the institution.
