Lagos Deputy Governor Asks for Peaceful Election and Visionary Leader

As the 2023 General Elections approach, Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has called on all Nigerians to pray for a peaceful election and for the country to get it right this time around. The Deputy Governor made this statement at the 2023 Annual Lateef Akbar Prayers Service, organized by the NADWAT Global Assembly, held at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) Onikan-Lagos over the weekend.

During his speech, Dr. Hamzat emphasized the importance of the upcoming general elections and how they will determine the success or failure of the country. He urged Nigerians to pray that the Almighty God chooses a good and visionary leader who is talented, intelligent, and committed to the well-being and development of the country. Hamzat went on to say that no nation in the world can develop without a good leader who is determined to rule well and invest in the development of the country and its citizens, providing employment, security, adequate healthcare, and quality education, among others.

The Deputy Governor also stressed that Nigerians must not be swayed by sentiments and vote for a president with a track record of success and the ability to identify talent, skills, and intellect for the good of the people. He praised All Progressive Congress Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his leadership skills and people-oriented policies as Governor of Lagos State. Hamzat stated that most of Tinubu’s policies and programs have been replicated in other states and if elected, the country will greatly benefit from his wealth of experience and leadership skills.

Hamzat charged members of the Islamic group to get their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) and turn out massively on election day to vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He also encouraged the re-election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as governor of Lagos State for continuity.

Dr. Hamzat reminded Nigerians to always pray for their leaders and stated that as a people and a nation, they need prayer. He mentioned that their religion emphasizes the importance of praying for their leaders and expressed his happiness and excitement to see such a large gathering of people to pray for the nation and for a peaceful election.
