Kolawole, Fayose’s choice, wins the Ekiti PDP primary

Chief Bisi Kolawole, the handpicked candidate of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, was named the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election held on Wednesday.

Engineer Segun Oni, Professor Kolapo Olusola, Yinka Akerele, Deji Ogunsakin, Lateef Ajijola, Wale Aribisala, Ayodeji Kazeem, and Kayode Adaramodu ran with Bisi Kolawole in the elections. Senator Biodun Olujimi resigned, citing irregularities, according to reports

Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State, the party’s Chairman of the Electoral Committee, proclaimed Kolawole the winner.
He claimed that Kolawole had won the contest with the most votes cast.

There were 13 invalid votes, Adekemi Adewumi received one, Biodun Olujimi received two, Lateef Ajijola received one, Ayodeji Kazeem received six, Kayode Adaramodu received ten, Professor Kolapo Olusola received 93, Adewale Aribisala received 56, Segun Oni received 330, and Bisi Kolawole received 671.

The election, which took place in the Eagle Hall in Ado Ekiti, began with delegates being accredited at Pope John Paul 2 Pastoral Centre on Ikere Road in Ado Ekiti.

The election was held in a tranquil environment, with armed police officers on hand to prevent a breakdown in law and order.

Addressing media, Udom praised party members for their maturity and collaboration, which contributed to the poll’s victory.

He stated that the election was fair and free of manipulation.

He urged the victor to be gracious in triumph, and the losers to be firm in the loss.
