Institute promotes dialogue between employers and employees

The Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies, Ilorin, Kwara State is developing a curriculum that will reflect new realities and promote social dialogue between employers and employees.

At a workshop in collaboration with the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation, Director General of the institute, Comrade Issa Aremu said, when developed and fully implemented, the new curriculum would minimise issues that lead to incessant industrial actions in the country.

According to the Director-General of the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies, Comrade Issa Aremu the Institute established in 1986, has recorded a lot of successes in terms of workers education and management of conflicts.

Aremu maintained that the new curriculum would promote social dialogue, collective bargaining and build the capacity of stakeholders at workplaces.

In their remarks, other partnering stakeholders noted that effective partnership, relevant education and transformative curriculum would impact knowledge towards addressing issues of industrial disputes in the country.

The 3-day curriculum development workshop with the theme: “Transformative Curriculum Design for Effective Workers Education”, featured paper presentations from educationists and goodwill messages from the NLC and the TUC among others.
