Gov. Sanwo Olu receives award for Exemplary and Courageous Leadership in a Challenging Situation

Lagos State Governor Sanwo Olu has received a prestigious award of exemplary and courageous leadership in a challenging situation by the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) on Wednesday 22, September 2021 in Lagos.

The governor personally receives the award, which centered on his excellent performance for the last two years, especially during the COVID-19 of which Lagos state is the epicenter.

Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu says he was honoured by the decision of the leadership of the Church of Nigeria to consider him worthy as the recipient of the church’s Prestigious Award for Exemplary and Courageous Leadership in a Challenging Situation.

“The last two years have, no doubt, been challenging for us due mostly to the sudden appearance of COVID-19 of which our state has been the epicenter.”

“I cannot lay claim to this award alone. I must acknowledge the commitment, hard work, sacrifice, and passion demonstrated by members of my team, the entire frontline workers who at the risk of their own lives, and those of their families worked day and night at the various isolation centres to save lives.”

The governor also acknowledged the humanitarian support shown by kind-hearted individuals and private sector organisations through financial and material donations have really underscored the fact that no challenging situations will be too difficult for us to overcome as a people when we stand together and for each other.
