Ex-Senate President Joseph Wayas dies in London

Nigeria’s Second Republic Senate President, Joseph Wayas, made his final bow and bid goodbye to life today in London. The former Senate President passed away in a London hospital following a battle with illness.

It should be noted that the former Senate President’s condition aroused the attention of the Cross River state administration, which also gave help.

Wayas, who was 80 years old, was born on May 21, 1941, in Basang, Obudu, Cross River State.

Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade said Wayas’ death was “a colossal loss to Cross River State in particular and Nigeria in general.”

“As a state, Cross River is in anguish as we grieve the demise of our famous son, ” he said.

“as Senate President, he contributed to the deepening of Nigeria’s democratic ethos through his robust and vibrant leadership of the upper legislative chamber,” ” he said.
