Delta Police Strike: Cult Financer and Fraud Syndicate Members Behind Bars

Delta State Police Commissioner, CP Ari Muhammed Ali FCIA, has deployed tactical teams to Sapele LGA in an effort to restore order following recent cult clashes in the area. These clashes have resulted in several injuries and even deaths in the affected areas, causing great concern among the citizens of the state.

Acting on credible intelligence, a combined team of the Command Special Anti-Cult Unit (SACU), operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS), and men of Operation Delta Hawk were able to track down and arrest one Chief Joseph Ologbo, a 37-year-old man from Otor Community in Sapele LGA. Ologbo is suspected of being a financier and active member of the Aro Bagger cult group, which has been identified as one of the main groups responsible for the recent violence.

Police arrested suspects

A search of Ologbo’s vehicle led to the recovery of an unlicensed pump action gun, two live cartridges, one expended cartridge, and an Aro Bagger cult regalia. The suspect is currently making a statement and will be charged in court upon the completion of the investigation.

In a separate incident, operatives of the Decoy Squad arrested four suspects in Ogwashi-Uku for their involvement in a syndicate that specializes in defrauding unsuspecting victims of their money. The suspects, Allison Louis, Sunday David, Peter Akagbai, and Chibuzor Elumeze, were found in possession of a tricycle and 15 different bank ATM cards. During the course of the investigation, the suspects admitted to committing fraud within the Ogwashi-Uku and Asaba metropolises, with POS operators and filling stations as their primary victims. They had been using the ATM cards to purchase items and make withdrawals, then falsely reporting to their banks that the transactions were not successful, leading to the victims’ accounts being wrongly debited and the suspects’ accounts being credited. The suspects have so far defrauded their victims of several millions of naira. The investigation is ongoing.

The police force and other law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to bring those responsible for the violence to justice and to restore peace to the affected areas. The Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, has urged citizens to cooperate with the police and provide any information they may have about the cult clashes and those involved in them.

The police force is warning citizens to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities. They are also reminding citizens to be careful when using their ATM cards and to report any suspicious transactions to their banks immediately.

CP Ari Muhammed Ali assured the general public that the police force is taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of citizens in Delta State and will not rest until peace and order is restored in the affected areas, and those responsible for the violence and criminal activities are brought to justice.
