Unknown Gunmen Killed FIRS Director

Alhaji Mohammadu Kudu Lawal, a director of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), was killed by gunmen. On Sunday night, he was assassinated.

In the Saminaka hamlet of the Lapai local government area of Niger state, the gunmen opened fire on the car he was riding in.

One other FIRS employee, whose name was not released, was hurt during the gunmen’s attack.

The director, who was from Lafiagi in Kwara state, was reportedly on his way to Abuja when he encountered the bandits, who shot up the Hilux van in which they were riding.

During a raid on her establishment, the gunmen kidnapped a food vendor along with four other people.

ThisDay adds that during the sporadic shooting, two petrol-filled tankers were reportedly struck by gunshots, catching fire and wreaking havoc in the neighborhood.

Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Inga, Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), verified the occurrence, which he called sad and pitiful.
