Arsenal secured a 6-0 win over Sevilla

Arsenal secured a 6-0 win over Sevilla at the Emirates Stadium. A hat trick for Gabriel Jesus, a Bukayo Saka double, and an Eddie Nketiah finish completed the rout in the Emirates Cup final.

Mikel Arteta named the same starting XI that featured against Chelsea from the outset as Aaron Ramsdale was between the posts, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus started along with Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka in the middle of the park.

Arsenal started the brighter of the two sides and was awarded a penalty eight minutes in after Bukayo Saka was pushed in the back by Rekik in the area. Saka stepped up and coolly slotted home his penalty to give the Gunners the lead.

Arsenal doubled their lead minutes later, and it was Gabriel Jesus again. After a superb diagonal ball from Ben White that found Jesus, the Brazilian then played in Granit Xhaka, who drove to the by-line and produced a neat cutback in which the ball bounced around before finding its way to Jesus, who lashed home his shot.

The Gunners again added to their lead. Gabriel Martinelli whipped in a delightful cross to the back post that found Jesus, who cushioned it perfectly past Bono and into the net.

Arsenal had their fourth just minutes later. The Gunners press was in full effect as Bono in the Sevilla goal was forced to kick the ball away in a hurry and put it directly into Saka’s path, and the Englishman hit home first time. It was 4-0 inside 20 minutes.

Four goals in nine minutes saw Arsenal go into the break with a commanding lead.

With 15 minutes to go, Jesus had his hat trick. From a corner, the ball found its way to Jesus, who poked home from close range with a true poacher’s finish.

Eddie Nketiah made it six after a great pass from Xhaka picked out Martinelli, who was through on goal. However, the Brazilian was unselfish and laid it off for NKetiah, who tapped home from close range.

Here are the player ratings from Arsenal’s 6-0 win over Sevilla.

Goalkeeper & Defenders

Ramsdale (GK) 7/10– Relatively comfortable day for our keeper. He dealt well with what he had to, and his distribution was on point today.

White (RB) 6/10 – Did what he had to do. He got forward and defended well for the most part. Solid outing.

Saliba (CB) 7/10 – Cool, calm, and composed. The Frenchman was a level above again today. Dealt with anything that Sevilla had to throw at him. A dead-set starter against Palace.

Gabriel (CB) 7/10 – Another commanding performance from the defender. Building a great relationship with Saliba and was rarely tested.

Zinchenko (LB) 7/10 – Another assured display from the 25-year-old. He got forward well and defended superbly. He has an eye for a long pass as well. Great performance.
