ACTIVATING THE 5TH GEAR: MIDRAMO CONSULTING LAUNCHES NEW PROGRAM TO EMPOWER SMEs AND YOUTHS IN NIGERIA

Midramo Consulting Limited, a leading capacity development organization in Nigeria, has launched a new program called the 5th Gear (Growth, Empowerment, Accelerate, and Recognition) Program. The program aims to empower 2,000 SMEs in a free entrepreneurship incubation program and 2,000 youth in an employability program in Lagos State, Nigeria, as a pilot for the next 5 years. The Midramo Empowerment Foundation, the organization’s NGO arm, will take a lead role in the program in partnership with the government and private sectors.

Midramo Consulting Limited has been empowering the youth for the past five years, providing technical and soft skills training in various sectors such as Hospitality, Information Communication Technology, and Construction Industry. Over the years, the organization has impacted over 100 SMEs and 500 youths, providing them with skills such as Leadership, Financial Literacy, Planning and Organizing, Goal Setting, Health and Safe Work Habits, Business Plan Writing, Marketing Techniques, and Digital Marketing.

Midramo’s entrepreneurship and employability programs have been successful, with over 100 SMEs supported through their five-day entrepreneurship training program, and more than 500 trainees engaged in economic activities. The organization’s sustainability plans have contributed to the success of its programs, earning it a nomination for the year 2022 as part of the Top 100 Fastest-Growing SMEs Awards in Nigeria by the Leadership of BusinessDay Award.

The success of Midramo’s programs is due to the support of its partners, including the United States for African Development Foundation, Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, Diamond Development Initiatives (DDI) and Skills for Prosperity Nigeria (S4P-N).

According to Midramo Consulting’s Executive Director of Services, Mrs. Salamatu Odewunmi, the launch of the 5th Gear Program is part of the organization’s plan for 2023. “We see the youth as our partners in achieving the organization’s vision of being a preferred global partner in the capacity development of human capital across Africa,” the Executive Director, of Services said. “The 5th Gear Program is our way of empowering more SMEs and youths to be better persons for themselves and the society.”
