2023 Presidency: South-West Agenda (SWAGA) seeks zoning arrangement sustained

The South-West Agenda (SWAGA) for Bola Tinubu, 2023, said the zoning arrangement of presidential ticket should be move to the South region to give every part of the country a sense of belonging.

Sen. Adedayo Adeyeye, the National Chairman of the group, made this known during the sensitisation of the group to the traditional rulers of Ikeja and Lagos Division in Lagos on Monday.

The former minister of works said that if the presidential ticket was zone to the south, it would bring unity among the southern and the northern regions.

Adeyeye, a former Minister of State for Works, said anybody could come out from the south because the zoning to the south was not meant for the South West alone.

“The group believes that the principle of rotation between the north and the south should be sustained in order to give every part of the country a sense of belonging.

“We must forget our divide in terms of ethnicity and come together. There are three geopolitical zones in the south and each of them is qualified to become the president.

“If the president is zoned to the south, it means anybody can come out from the south because the zoning to the south is not meant for the South-West alone.

“However, we are saying that there is someone in the south whose figure is highly acceptable in all parts of the country.

“Even though every part of the country will still present their candidates but for now we have present the best foot forward and maximize our advantage,” he said.

Adeyeye said the group was happy that the northerners were also clamouring that the power should move to the south.

He noted that the people of the country was predicated on people having the person that they could get justice and the system would be fair to them.

The senator noted that they had been able to prove to the doubting Thomas that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was acceptable by the generality of the people in the southwest.

“We have heard what the traditional rulers have said in all the six states in the zone. Now we want to move to the other geopolitical zones.

“The work we are doing now is already encouraging similar movement in all the geopolitical in the country.

The Secretary-General, SWAGA, Mr Bosun Oladele, said the traditional rulers were the custodian of the people and they have the mandate to oversee the affairs of the people.

Oladele said they came to pay homage to the traditional rulers because they cannot do anything without putting the traditional rulers into consideration.

Responding, the Head of Ikeja division of Obas, Oba Lasisi Gbadamosi; Onigando of igando described the All Progressives Congress National leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the most Nigeria’s Presidential candidate come 2023.

Gbadamosi said the 65 traditional rulers in the Ikeja division had endorsed Tinubu, saying that God would give him the grace to attain the position.

The Onigando of Igando said Tinubu would emerge as President, praying prayed for the team and assured them of total support.

Also, the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, said Tinubu, a former Lagos Governor, was the best candidate to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.

Akiolu, represented by Oba Tijani Akiloye, the Ajiran of Ajiran Land in Eti-Osa, said all the traditional rulers in the Lagos Division were in full support of his campaign.

Also on Lagos State Delegation of SWAGA were Monsuru Batola (Coordinator), Toba Oke (Treasurer), Mrs Kafilat Ogbana (Lagos Secretary), Kola Prigrimo, Yomi Ogunubi, Primate Charles Odugbesi.

Hon. Muniru Abiodun, Hon. Deji Akande, Mr Ahmeed Olanfe, Hon. Abdullahi Na-Gbenga, Princess Adesola Haassrup, Princess Folashade Oba, Funmilayo Olanrewaju, Hon. Ezekiel Agboyinu.

Hon. Adurayemi Ayodabo, Comrade Eniola Tayo, Hon. Abdulkarim Aramide, Hon. Abul Lateef Omolayo, Lanre Odubole and Hon Muniru Abiodun Akeem, former member House of Assembly, Lagos State gave the vote of thanks.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the team had on Sunday visited the traditional rulers in Badagry to seek their blessings and endorsement for the APC National leader. (NAN)
